Mathias Kossmann

I am a digital all-rounder with over 20 years of experience in the conception, sales, development and management of projects and products in the areas of digital transformation and business models.

In my current position as Senior Manager and Team Leader Software Development at Thalia, I am responsible for and lead three development teams. These are concerned with the continuous optimization and further development of the Thalia omnichannel platform, which seamlessly connects stationary retail and digital touchpoints. My focus is on professional and disciplinary team leadership, technological innovation, agile processes and responsibility for profitability - always with the aim of enabling a positive team spirit at eye level and taking the digital customer experience to the next stage.
Thalia is the market leader in the general book trade (digital and stationary) in DACH region and is consistently driving forward its digital transformation. Sales in e-commerce are growing steadily and represent a central part of the company's business strategy. The seamless integration of online and offline makes Thalia one of the most exciting players in omnichannel retail.

In my position before my current engagement, I headed the E-Commerce & Engagement Unit for the German branch of SQLI, a European group for digital services, with focus on client consultancy, business development, account management and economic profitability (P&L responsibility).

Overall I have supported companies on the service provider and start-up side in conception, selling, developing and implementing digital projects and business models. Brands like Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Deutsche Telekom, Bosch Professional, Rockwool, DLR, apetito, Aldi Süd, PSA Groupé (Stellantis), Miele, Westfalen Energie, Claas and Grohe belong to the list of clients I have worked for.

My main motivation is to make digital projects, products, teams and departments sustainably successful - with a clear view of strategy, technology, user experience and profitability.
